Meet the writer, meet the illustrator
In good ol’ Miami, Florida I was raised in a Cuban-American household with an assortment of artistic/eccentric family members. Starting from the very beginning, Auburndale Elementary, I demonstrated natural artistic talents that dazzled my classmates (distracted potential bullies) and won the coveted favor of my art teacher. I was modest but quickly realized my artistic abilities when my peers demanded new drawings, mazes and artsy activities to escape the monotony of public school. Even as I worked towards my B.A. in Liberal Studies at FIU, I couldn’t help but continue to doodle on the margins just as I always did in elementary. Later, those doodles could be found throughout my cubical at the various law firms I worked for throughout my adult life. Eventually, I couldn’t fight it anymore. I realized it was time I embraced my calling as an artist and as a children’s book author & illustrator. You have to be true to yourself.
